Biografia

Marina Magalhães is a brazilian actress and dancer, born in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais), and who has living in Lisbon/Portugal since 2017. She trained in classical and contemporary dance at the Artistic Training Center of Palácio das Artes (Belo Horizonte) and as an actress at Casa das Artes de Laranjeiras (Rio de Janeiro). Marina also has a degree in dance and a post-graduate degree in Corporal Preparation in Performing Arts from Faculdade Angel Vianna, a master's degree in Performing Arts from Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and a doctoral candidate in Performing Arts from the University of Lisbon.

 

She began her dance studies at the age of five in Belo Horizonte. She was a member of Oberdan Vidal Dance Company (1998-2001) and Grupo Primeiro Ato Dance Company (2007-2009). Marina was nominated for the Sesc/Sated Award (2006) in the Revelation in Performing Arts category, for the spectacle Até amanhã ainda é bastante tempo (2006), and performed and choreographed the video dance Insomne (2009), with which she won the prize for Best Short Film at the São Paulo International Film Festival. In theater and dance, she participated in several plays, including Paisagens Imaginárias (2005), directed by Izabel Costa, Abram-se os histéricos (2012), directed by Regina Miranda, with text by Antonio Quinet; and the Performatic Installation Ferida Sábia (2012), directed by Ana Vitória. In 2016, she debuted Mar de Ressaca (2016), in partnership with Impele Company and directed by Marco André Nunes.

Among other works, one can highlight Encontro de gerações (2011/2013), conceived for the Festival Correios em Movimento, a show that brought together emblematic figures from different generations such as Angel Vianna, Carlota Portela, Regina Miranda, Ana Vitória, Flávia Tápias, Carlinhos de Jesus and Luiz Mendonça; Outside – Um Musical Noir (2010), in which she acted and did the corporal preparation of the cast – directed by Marco André Nunes, winner of several awards by FITA 2011, APTR Theater Award and Quality Arts Brazil Award. She also did the Corporal Preparation for pieces such as Dhrama (2015), with Luca Bianchi and Lívia de Bueno, O céu está vazio (2012), with Casa de Jorge Company, text by Julia Spadaccini and direction by Jorge Caetano; Cara de cavalo (2012), from the group Aquela Cia de Teatro; and the Direction of Movement of À beira do abismo me cresceram asas (2013), directed by Maitê Proença and Clarice Niskier, supervised by Amir Haddad and Angel Vianna.

 

On TV and in the cinema, she participated in soap operas on the Globo network, such as Tempos Modernos (2010), directed by José Luiz Villamarim; Escrito nas estrelas (2011), by Elisabeth Jhin; and in the movie De pernas pro ar (2010), by Roberto Santucci. 

Author of the book "Grupo Teatro do Movimento: Um gesto expressivo de Klauss e Angel Vianna na dança brasileira" (nominated for the 2020 Jabuti Prize, in the Biographies category), she has coordinated the postgraduate course in Corporal Preparation in the Performing Arts at Faculdade Angel Vianna (2011 -2013), where she was also a professor between 2011 and 2017. As a teacher, she supervised several artistic works in the academic field, in addition to being a visiting professor at the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (2017) and at the Escola Superior de Dança (2018-2019). Since 2018, she has been a teacher at Inimpetus School for Actor Training.
